Hi, I’m Tamara!
I realized soon after I gave my life to Christ that my story was a little different than most of my new Christian friends. The majority of them were saved as kids or teens. I, on the other hand, had resolutely refused to even remotely open my heart to Christ for the first half century of my life. I lived for self and pleasure. But God had a plan for me, and once I finally accepted Him, events accelerated at breakneck speed and they haven’t slowed. God led me to serve in several ministries, introduced me to my home church, saved my husband, and grew our faith exponentially. He was preparing us for war.
I was diagnosed with cancer in October, 2022. After surgery and chemo, I enjoyed a brief remission in 2023. Unfortunately, it has metastasized into my lymphatic system and returned now three times.
God has been merciful and we beat the cancer the first two times. I’m still in the battle fighting this third onslaught, but we cherish every day that the Lord allows my husband and me to have more time together. About a year ago, God also gave me a task: write my testimony and share all He has done in my life. I gladly obeyed and “This Changes Everything: How God Transformed a Pagan Rebel into a Child of the King” is the result. I pray this book blesses and encourages you, no matter where you are in your faith journey or walk in life.

You would think with Stage 4 cancer, I would slow down and just concentrate on trying to stay alive. Yet, the Holy Spirit told me to write my testimony. He even gave me most of the chapter titles one day. Within fifteen minutes I was staring at the framework for my book. I chose to obey and the book flowed out of me. I wrote whenever I had a chance: in the chemo chair, while sitting in bed feeling nauseous and tired, on camping trips and vacations, and waiting in the truck while my husband ran errands. I had no idea how I was going to publish this book, but the Holy Spirit told me to not worry about that part. He would provide.
And, indeed, He did. As I was writing the last chapter, a young friend from church who works as a social media consultant and graphic designer volunteered to format my book and prepare it for self-publishing on Amazon. When God says not to worry, you can trust Him. He is faithful! Along with the book came this publishing business: Child of the King Press. I was advised that it looked more professional to have an imprint (publisher) name on the book when you self-publish. Naturally, once you have a business, you need a website. And once I had a publishing business, I asked the Holy Spirit what else I could do with it. Whew! Aslan is on the move.
So, what is our vision for Child of the King Press? We’re all about knowing Jesus and making Him known. Through publishing Christian testimonies, Bible studies, and other faith-based books, we want to shine His light out into this darkening world and help people see the One who loves them more than they know. And we’re just getting started.
